Remanufactured and/or new distributors can be obtained at AutoZone and probably other parts suppliers. We understand the AutoZone replacements use newer technology than the original GM distributors and work well. The Fiero Store also has replacment distributors.

Distributor Parts: The distributor gear for the V-6 is rumored to be discontinued but should be obtainable under GM part number 01985769. A worn gear can be the cause for jumpy timing. GM part numbers for other components of the Fiero distributors are as follow:
Part Description L-4 Distributor V-6 Distributor
Distributor Shaft discontinued 10497450
Shaft Bushings 10477565 discontinued
O-Ring 10477565 10477565
Pickup Coil 1987964 10495089
Ignition Module 10882835 10482827

The '87-88 four-cylinder Fiero did not have a distributor and used a Distributorless Ignition System or "DIS". Some of the GM part numbers in this system are:

Part Description Part Number
Crank Sensor 10496122
Ignition Module 10467208
Coil Pack 10472401

Our thanks to the May/June 2005 "Fiero Focus" from Northern Illinois Fiero Enthusiasts for the distributor part numbers.
