December 11, 2010 NIFE Holiday Party:  With 2010 coming to an end, it is time again to celebrate the holiday season with our fellow club members. On Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm NIFE will gather at the T.G.I. Fridays restaurant in Lombard, IL located at 601 East Butterfield Road (near the intersection of I-88 and I-355; 630-964-3743). It is located approximately one mile east of I-355 on Butterfield Road, 1/4 mile east of Highland Ave (I-88 exit on Highland North from either direction on I-88). We have reserved a special dining area for our group. Dress is casual and we will order off of the menu. As the holiday season gets into full swing, take a break and come out to celebrate with your NIFE friends! We will have a gift exchange again this year. If you bring a gift ($10.00 max value) you will receive a gift in our gift exchange. Please mark your gift either “Fiero” or “Other”: “Fiero” for Fiero related items and “Other” for guest related items. November 20, 2010 NIFE Winter Meeting Kick-Off: On Saturday, November 20, 2010 we will begin our season of winter NIFE club meeting to enlighten you on maintenance tips to keep your Fiero on the road. We will begin this season’s club meetings at the Schaumburg Library located at 130 South Roselle Road, which is at the intersection of Roselle Road and Schaumburg Road at the southwest corner. You can call 847-985-4000 for directions. Our meeting will start at 1:00pm and our subject matter for this meeting will be:

      • Long-term storage tips - Dave Kopielski
      • Repair methods for cracked exhaust manifold bolts on the V6 Fiero - Ray Dyreson
      • The 4 cylinder Fiero timing gear; issues and replacement options - Mike Kroyer
      • Replacing brake hoses and brake lines on your Fiero - Ray Dyreson

Our meetings are very informative offering factual tips and hints from members who have had to address the topics of discussion at hand. We hope your busy calendar has a two-hour opening for us on this day so you can join us.
October 16, 2010 NIFE Fall Color Tour: The beauty of the fall colors will be upon us shortly and what better way to enjoy them than in your Fiero. This year’s Fall Color Tour will take us to the Ottawa, IL area. Chicago area members can gather at the Red Roof Inn located southeast of the intersection of Route 59 and Diehl Road (just south of the Route 59 exit along I-88) in Naperville, IL. We will depart from this location at 9:00am on Saturday, October 16, 2010; please begin gathering here after 8:30am. From here we will head to Route 47 along I-88 and head south on Route 47 to Route 71 into Newark, IL.
In Newark, IL the group will stop at the BP station located at 303 E. State, (Rt. 71) where they will have an opportunity to refuel, etc. Here we will meet up with our tour coordinators, NIFE club members Roger Gercken and Hank Roe who will lead the group along Rt. 71into Ottawa, IL. We anticipate arriving in Ottawa, IL around 10:30am.  A short stop has been planned at Washington Park in Ottawa, site of the first Lincoln-Douglas Debate.  Across from the park are the historic Reddick Mansion and the Third Appellate Court buildings. From here the group would continue through Ottawa on Rt. 23/71 over the Illinois River and follow Rt. 71 toward Starved Rock. State Park.  Some may be familiar with this park while other may not.  Starved Rock is over 2,600 acres of woods, canyons, natural wonders and hiking trails along the Illinois River near Utica, IL.
September 22, 2010 NIFE Cruise Night - Bolingbrook, IL: Come on out on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 and join NIFE for our last cruise night of the 2010 season at the Bolingbrook Promenade located at 631 East Boughton Road in Bolingbrook, IL (630) 296-8340 (thepromenadebolingbrook.com). The Cruise night starts at 5:00pm and goes until 9:00pm.
September 19, 2010 15th Annual Fall All Pontiac/GMC Car Show - Lemont, IL: Join us as we travel to Lemont, Il for this show. This show is open to all Pontiac's and GMC light trucks. Rain or shine the show will take place at the lot next to the Burger King at 1276 State Street Lemont, IL. Car show entry fee is $12 by August 15th and $15 the day of the show. September 11-12, 2010 Fierorama 2010: On Sunday, September 12th, 2010 join your fellow Fiero Enthusiasts from near and far for our annual Fierorama. This year's event is being held at the Holiday Inn Express located in St. Charles, Illinois.  St. Charles is located in the Fox Valley area about 35 miles West of Chicago. It is easily accessible via several local roadways including Rt.64 (North Avenue), Rt.25, or Rt.31, all with easy connections from I-88, and I-90. The Holiday Inn is also our host hotel and is located at 1600 E. Main Street (Route 64) at the intersection of Tyler Road.

August 22, 2010 NIFE Cruise Night – Elgin, IL: We will be spending a relaxing Sunday evening at the Rookies restaurant in Elgin, IL which is located just north of I-90 on Randall Road at 2486 Bushwood Drive. There is plenty of parking so come on out and enjoy half price pizza and a great outdoor patio during this cruise night when NIFE participates as a group on Sunday, August 22, 2010.
August 21, 2010 Village Buick/GMC Trip to the Village Car Show - Naperville, IL: All Pontiac, GMC, Buick, Cadillac & Oldsmobile's are welcome to attend this Sunday, August 21st car show. August 7, 2010 Universal Technical Institute Car Show - Glendale Heights, IL: Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) 3rd Annual Open House and Car Show will be taking place on Saturday August 7, 2010. UTI is located at 601 Regency Drive, Glendale Heights, IL 60139. There will be a car show with awards and prizes. Tuners, imports, hotrods, classics, and bikes along with our Fieros are all welcome at this show! UTI in association with Average Joe’s Car Club is seeking to gather food donations for the Northern Illinois Food Bank so a donation of any non-perishable food item is requested for admission to the exhibit. There will be displays by car clubs, custom auto shops, and industry vendors. Music! Food! Games! Prizes! Hope you can join in on the fun!
August 3, 2010 NIFE Cruise Night – Buffalo Grove, IL: Come on out and join us for a nice Tuesday evening at the Buffalo Grove, IL Culvers restaurant located at 450 McHenry Road (one block east of Route 83). On Tuesday August 3, 2010 NIFE will be gathering to participate in this cruise night which starts at 6:30pm and goes until 9:00pm. This cruise night is hosted by Blackdog Promotions. July 31- August 1, 2010 All Pontiac Show - St. Charles, IL: On Sunday, August 1, 2010 the 20th Annual Indian Uprising All Pontiac Weekend Car Show will be hosted by the Cruisin’ Tigers GTO Club at the Dupage Expo Center located in St. Charles, IL (across from Pheasant Run Resort) at 4050 East Main Street (also known as Route 64 or North Avenue). Again this year, the Indian Uprising is a two-day event with drag racing events taking place at Byron Dragway followed by a party at the show site starting at 7:30pm on Saturday, July 31, 2010. July 24, 2010 NIFE Cruise Night – McHenry, IL: On Saturday, July 24, 2010 Mulligan’s Saloon located at 2616 Schaid Ct, in McHenry, Illinois near the Northgate Center will be our cruise night host from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. This cruise night is very popular that even folks travel down from Wisconsin to participate. There are many cool cars to see and plenty of friendly folks to converse with. They have great food as well; so come out for dinner and stay for the cruise night.
July 9, 2010 NIFE Cruise Night – Roselle: On Friday, July 9, 2010 the Roselle Village Cruise Night located in Roselle on the corner of Irving Park Road (Route 19) and Roselle road will be our host. The cruise night runs from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. The parking area is only for cruise night vehicles and the shops offer cruise night specials. It has a very friendly “small town” atmosphere and plenty of cool cars to see.
June 27 , 2010 NIFE At The Swedish Days Parade In Geneva, IL: The parade will be taking place on Sunday, June 27, 2010 and will last a couple of hours from start to finish. We can have up to 10 cars in this year’s parade. This is a chance to show not only other Fiero owners your car but to show the thousands of spectators why we consider the Fiero to be one of America’s best loved sports cars. June 27 , 2010 NIFE Cruise Night – Oak Brook Terrace: On Sunday, June 27, 2010 the Champs/Dunkin’ Donuts located in Oak Brook Terrace near the corner of Route 83 and Roosevelt Road is hosting a cruise night. The cruise night runs from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. So why not enjoy a nice Sunday evening under the stars and sharing stories with other enthusiasts?
June 3-6 , 2010 Fiero Midwest Reginals - Dell's Run 2010:  It is an annual pilgrimage of sorts for the Fiero community. The Fiero Fanatics of Wisconsin will be rolling out the red carpet for Fiero owners from across the country from June 3, 2010 through June 6, 2010 for the annual Dells Run event. February 20, 2010 NIFE Club Event - Rockford, IL:  Enjoy an all American sport or two, bowling and eating! The NIFE Rockford group will host an afternoon of bowling with your Fiero friends. One of the first events of the New Year will begin at “Don Carter” lanes located at 4007 East State Street, (Bus. Route 20) about 15 minutes west of the I-90 toll way; it’s a straight shot from the toll road. This bowling alley just underwent a one million dollar renovation and is all ready for us compete on; wow!
Then, after we have all worked up an appetite, we will head back east to 5611 East State Street to “Linos” famous Italian cuisine; excellent food in a family casual atmosphere. What a fun time; don’t forget to mark your calendars, just the ticket for the after Christmas lull. Bowling will start at 3:30pm with dinner to follow at 6:00pm. Feel free to join us for bowling, or dinner, or both! I can guarantee you will have the most fun if you choose the ‘both’ option! Note: this is a date change from the last issue of Fiero Focus.
